Talking points and media collateral
When communicating in person, to the press, or via social media, start with standard wording to succinctly describe Dinner Elf.
Dinner Elf overview
💡People often think a 'personal chef' is too expensive or fancy for them, so use 'in-home meal prep' or 'Elves' to be more palatable (pun intended).
Since 2014, thousands of customers have found a new way to fix dinner. Get in-home meal prep from Dinner Elf. For less than takeout, I'll shop, cook just for your family in your kitchen, and clean up. Say goodbye to take out or meal kits. Instead, save time and eat better with Dinner Elf.
💡The first two questions people ask are (1) "How does it work?" and (2) "How much?" To answer, describe the booking and appointment process.
Visit DinnerElf.com and enter your zip code to view Elves who cook in your area and their upcoming availability. Then pick your Elf, time, and dinners from our large menu. On the day of your appointment, your Elf grocery shops en route to your home, cooks three nights of dinner in a two-hour cooking appointment, and cleans up. For less than eating out, get three nights of home-cooked dinners packaged right in your fridge for easy reheating. Enjoy your home-cooked love!
💡The service may sound expensive, so compare Dinner Elf to something they already know ("For less than takeout").
Dinner Elf costs less than takeout. For $99 + ingredients, I'll shop, cook three family-size dinners, and clean up. Most appointments cost $150-$200.
💡Safety has always been our #1 priority. Describe our additional COVID protocols to your customers.
For language, see our COVID-19 safety protocols blog post.
💡More people give Dinner Elf then get Dinner Elf for themselves, so promote gift packages for seasons of need (after a baby, illness, or injury) or for almost any occasion (Mother's Day, Christmas, etc). A request to give is often easier than a request to book you directly.
Give Dinner Elf to a loved one, friend or co-worker whenever they’d appreciate home-cooked meals. Gift packages start at $50, include most diets, and your gift can be emailed immediately. Give an in-home cook after a baby, illness, injury or for any time someone needs some home-cooked love!
💡Group gifts are sort of like a GoFundMe page, but for dinners. Once an organizer starts a group, they're usually amazed by the outpouring of love from friends, family, and co-workers. See a few example pages here and here.
Have you ever received dinners from neighbors after bringing home your baby? "Meal trains" or "care calendars" are a popular way to support someone after a birth, surgery or illness. Dinner Elf, a popular in-home cooking service, has an even more flexible option with group gifts. Start a group gift of home-cooked meals from friends, extended family and co-workers. Invite them from near and far to contribute as little as $10. Recipients get to choose any dinners from our large menu at a time that's most convenient to them. Our menu is great for almost every diet and taste. Dinner Elf is a great option to compliment an existing meal train, as both busy and out-of-town friends can contribute without having to physically deliver the food.
💡Many people are hesitant to invite a stranger into their home. As you promote yourself, share things you have in common with your audience (neighbors, a common friend, etc).
Our trusted Elves are professional cooks and really nice humans. If you’ve had a cleaner in your home, our service will feel familiar. We aim to be a quiet, professional presence in your home, and are used to navigating around nap schedules and family pets. Safety is our number one priority, and every chef must pass a thorough background check prior to joining the platform. In addition, all Elves are required to have their food handler's certification, complete internal safety training, and are covered by a $1 million dollar insurance policy.
💡Many customers don't think about using Dinner Elf for entertaining. Recommend your cooking services for their next book club, bible study, truck show, or small party.
Order from our party bites menu as an affordable way to simplify your next book club, holiday party, baby shower, or girls night in. All of our party bites are designed to be finger foods served at room temperature, and feed a crowd!
💡Introduce yourself as a Dinner Elf in Facebook groups and NextDoor.
💡Promote your new cooking practice to the local press.
